Talk about a strange weekend....

Things all started on Thursday night. I hadn't been to Beer More, a fun little local bar, so we decided to stop there and hang out for a while. As Fri. was a holiday, I thought it'd be just fine to have a few brews before heading home to rest. It started out as just 4 of us, but then a couple other teachers showed up and things escalated from there. After quite a few pitchers, we meandered on over to a karaoke place and sung things up a bit there. It was plenty of fun, but hot damn did I wake up to a raging headache the next day. Probably the Lotteria 4 cheese sticks and mango shake dinner. That couldn't have done me a whole lot of good before going on a mini-bender.
Anyhow....my Friday morning hangover lingered all the way up till the afternoon, and I wasn't exactly in a state to really do anything till the next day. So much for an extra day off. Clinton and I did take a short jaunt over to Home Plus, a huge department storish store, in the neighborhood. We got gift certificates from our boss, as an extra thank you for the long days during camp. We had fun, checking out all the electronics stuff and ended up coming home with a cheap blender as well as microwave. Sorry, to all y'all that think it's a little frivolous. Guilty as charged, but still don't really care. It's the little comforts that make things bareble. Besides, after the gift certificate, I only ended up paying an extra 20,000W ($19). And that concludes my fun-filled Friday.

I went into Seoul early Saturday afternoon to meet Nora and the kids. We took them out to an electronics market. Not all that big a deal, but basically just a chance for them to get out of the house and run around. There's just no space for them to really let off steam otherwise. We headed back home after a couple of hours and were walking down one of the small side-streets home. Darius and Dagmar were running all over the place while Nora and I were trying to get them to take our hands. Anyhow....I think Dagmar (2 years old) learned his lesson. He went behind a car and a pizza delivery moped was coming down the road. Nora was a little bit ahead with Darius trying to tell him to get out of the way and I was with Dagmar a couple feet away just about to get him out of the way also. The next thing I know, what does he do but step right in front of the moped. He got shmucked pretty badly and rolled pretty hard on the road. Luckily it knocked him over, but didn't actually go over him. Either way it wasn't fun being feet away seeing it all not being able to really do anything. We both freaked out and I scooped him up. He immediatly started balling. I just sat there rocking him and telling him it was ok in Korean, while trying to check what was hurt. Nora ran to call Kim, her husband and to still try and get Darius, who continued playing and running up ahead. It was like he didn't even realize anything had happened. We went to the hospital and they took x-rays and were all super relieved to see that he'd only been bruised and tossed about, but hadn't actually broken anything. Can you believe that? Talk about lucky. All of us went back the their apartment and both of the kids were pretty tired. Kim, Nora and I just kept thinking how lucky he was.
